A coach with driver in West Flanders: the coast from De Panne to Knokke-Heist, Bruges, Ypres and the Westhoek, and Kortrijk and Roeselare inland.
For the rest of the country, West Flanders is above all a destination. The coast draws groups every summer and on every fine spring day, Bruges is one of the most visited cities in the country, and Ypres and the Westhoek are where schools go to learn about the First World War.
That matters if you come by coach. Bruges keeps coaches out of the city centre, Knokke-Heist has fixed points for getting on and off, and the roads to the coast are busy in summer. If you live in Kortrijk or Roeselare, the French border is just round the corner: Lille and the northern French coast make a day trip.
Is your town not listed? Choose the larger city nearby: what it says about getting on usually applies around it too.
With a coach in West Flanders
If you are planning a day at the seaside, set off early and agree with the coach company where the coach will wait: in the seaside towns a coach park is usually on the edge of town, not on the promenade. In July and August the roads to the sea are busy, and that counts towards the hours. A remembrance trip to the Westhoek has many stops; draw up a schedule for the day with the cemeteries and museums you want to visit, so the driver can plan the route.
Questions about a coach in the province of West Flanders
Can a coach stop anywhere on the coast?
No. Every seaside town has its own rules; Knokke-Heist and Bruges, for example, have fixed places to get on and off. The page for each town says what we could check at the source.
