A coach for your day trip

In Flanders a day out by coach is a tradition: the senior citizens' club heading for the Ardennes, the youth movement spending a day at the seaside, the families' association visiting a theme park, the neighbourhood going to a Christmas market across the border. Everyone gets on at the same place in the morning, and in the evening the coach is back there again.

What makes such a day a success is a programme that fits the hours. A trip to the Ardennes or the Moselle soon takes a few hours each way, and then there is less time left on site than you think. If you plan a stop on the way, for coffee or lunch, and do not make the return journey too late, you come home with a happy group.

If you are driving to Wallonia, you do not need to look for a low-emission zone: no town there has one. In Antwerp, Ghent and Brussels you do.

Enter your trip and you will see the prices of the participating coach companies side by side, including companies from the Netherlands that drive in Belgium. The Flemish coach companies on this page are not taking part yet: they are listed without a price with your trip, and you can invite them from there.

      Arranging the coach

Draw up a schedule for the day with the departure, arrival, the stops on the way and the time of the return journey, and send it with your request. Agree where the driver will wait while the group is out. If the trip crosses the border, to the Netherlands, France, Luxembourg or Germany, give the destination as precisely as possible.

      Frequently asked questions

Questions about a coach for your day trip

How long may a driver drive in one day?

Under the European rules, at most nine hours at the wheel per day, ten twice a week. After four and a half hours of driving he takes a break of at least 45 minutes. On a long day that can mean a second driver has to come along.

Does the coach wait for the group during the trip?

Yes, on a day trip the driver usually stays on site. Agree where he will park and what time the group will get back on.

Do I need to watch out for a low-emission zone in the Ardennes?

No. Wallonia scrapped the zone for the whole region, and according to the Walloon government no Walloon municipality has yet introduced one of its own.
