How the calculator works

The total amount, with the buffer added if you enter one, is divided by the number of people who pay.
Someone who travels along without paying, such as a companion, counts as a traveller but not as a payer. Their share is divided among the others.
It is always rounded up, to the amount you choose. That way nobody pays the shortfall out of their own pocket, and you see exactly how much is left over.
It is calculated in cents, so it is correct to the cent.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about the cost per person

Why does the calculator round up?

So the kitty never falls short. If you round down, the treasurer pays the difference out of their own pocket. What is left over from rounding, you see in the outcome.

What is the buffer for?

For what you don't know in advance: a parking space, an extra hour of waiting, or someone who cancels at the last moment and doesn't pay. How big you make it is up to you; if you don't want one, leave the box empty.

Do the companions count?

They travel along and need a seat, so they count towards the number of travellers. If they don't pay, also enter them under “Travels along without paying”. Their share is then divided among the others.

Where do I get the total amount from?

From your own price overview, or from the coach company's quote. If you enter your trip on BusOffer.com, you see what coach companies charge for your route, date and group.

Does BusOffer.com store what I enter here?

No. What you enter is only in the web address of this page, so you can share the outcome. We don't store it.
