      Winter Wonders, Winterpret in Dutch and Plaisirs d'Hiver in French, is the City of Brussels' Christmas market. It is not on one square but runs as a route through the centre: from the Grand-Place with its Christmas tree and sound and light show, across Place de la Bourse and the Marché aux Poissons by St Catherine's Church, to Place De Brouckère with an ice rink. The 2026 edition runs from 27 November to 3 January.

      For a coach, Brussels starts at the edge of the region. The whole Brussels-Capital Region is a low-emission zone, every day of the week, and a diesel coach must be at least Euro 6. The ring road itself is outside it. A coach company that drives in Brussels regularly knows which coach may enter.

      In the city itself a coach may not simply stand anywhere. The City of Brussels publishes a list of parking zones reserved for coaches, with their locations, because coaches around the Grand-Place and other attractions cause a lack of space and nuisance in the neighbourhood.

      Parking for coaches

      • Coaches parking around the Grand-Place, the European quarter, the Cinquantenaire park or the Heysel cause a problem with the available space and with the neighbourhood.
      • That is why parking zones are provided for coaches; the city lists 84, with their coordinates and as open data.

      The low-emission zone in Brussels

      • The whole Brussels-Capital Region, its 19 municipalities, is a low-emission zone; the Ring and some access roads to park-and-ride car parks are outside it.
      • The rules apply to (mini)buses registered in Belgium or abroad.
      • A diesel vehicle, a bus included, must be at least Euro 6; since 1 January 2026, Euro 5 no longer qualifies.

      Arranging the coach

      In your request, say that the trip ends in the Brussels Region, so the coach company sends a coach that meets the rules of the low-emission zone. Agree with the driver where the group gets off and a fixed time to get back on; in between, he parks in one of the city's coach zones. If you come on 24 or 31 December, or on the last day, plan early: then the market closes at 18:00.
