      Our advice for 6 people

For a group of up to eight people, a people carrier is the usual size: eight passenger seats, and it can go anywhere a car can. With a lot of luggage, a small minibus is the roomier choice.

At 6 people the choice narrows

This many coaches at the affiliated companies have at least 6 seats:

86coaches for your group of 6at 27 companies
85coaches if there were 8 of youat 27 companies

Larger groups can also travel with several coaches from the same company; we include that as soon as you fill in your trip.

      Driving yourself with 6 people?

That is allowed with a normal car licence (B). If one of you drives, there are 5 passengers in the van, and licence B lets you carry up to 8, not counting yourself. The van may then weigh no more than 3,500 kg. If nobody wants to drive all day, or everyone wants to join in, a coach with a driver is the other choice, and you compare those here.

Which licence for how many passengers?

Bup to 8 passengers, up to 3,500 kgyour group of 6
      D19 to 16 passengers
      Dmore than 16 passengers

The driver does not count. For D1 and D you must be at least 18 and hold code 95.

Which size do you choose for 6 people?

With six people you are too many for one car and too few for a regular coach. A people carrier is the logical size here: it takes up to eight passengers, so you have two seats spare for luggage or someone who joins at the last minute. A minibus works too, but it is bigger than you need; you usually won't notice that in the comfort, but you will in the price.

      Recommended type of coach

What does a coach for 6 people cost?

A price without your trip would be a guess for 6 people, so it is not shown here. What you pay mainly depends on four things:

      • The coach. For 6 people we recommend a people carrier, and we charge a people carrier at our standard rate per kilometre: with the group, and the empty kilometres to and from the company's base.
      • The trip. How long the coach is on the road with your 6 people, how far it drives, and how far the coach company has to travel from its base to reach you.
      • The day. If your 6 people travel on a Saturday, a Sunday or public holiday, or at night, our standard rate adds a surcharge.
      • The month. For 6 people our standard rate is 15% higher in July and August, and 10% lower in January and February.

The prices page shows example trips with a price, for groups of 16, 30 and 50 people; for 6 people we only work it out once you fill in your trip. See the example trips with a price.

      Practical points for 6 people

A people carrier is a van with eight passenger seats and the driver up front. It goes anywhere a car can: a narrow street, a car park with a low height limit, a hotel driveway. That makes it handy for a door-to-door pick-up or an airport transfer. With six people and suitcases it does get tight: a people carrier has no separate luggage hold, so the cases go in the back or on the empty seats.

What to look out for with 6 people

      • Six people with large suitcases, for example going to Schiphol, won't always fit in a people carrier. Mention the number of suitcases in your request; sometimes a small minibus with luggage space is the better choice.
      • Compare it with two taxis. On a short trip there is little difference, but with a people carrier everyone travels together and arrives at the same time.
      • If you're being picked up at more than one address, say so. Every extra stop adds driving time, and driving time is what a trip is charged on.
      Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about transport for 6 people

How many people fit in a people carrier?

Up to eight passengers, plus the driver. With six people you therefore have two seats spare.

Is a people carrier for 6 people cheaper than two taxis?

Often it is, when you share a destination, because you pay for one trip rather than two. Request a price estimate and you'll see the amount for your trip.

Does the luggage of 6 people fit in a people carrier?

Hand luggage does. With six large suitcases it gets tight, because a people carrier has no separate luggage hold. Put the number of suitcases in your request.

Can I hire a people carrier without a driver through BusOffer?

No. Everything you compare here is transport with a driver, operated by a licensed coach company.

Can I drive a minibus for 6 people myself?

Yes. If one of you drives, there are 5 passengers, and with a normal car licence (B) you may carry up to 8, not counting yourself, in a vehicle up to 3,500 kg.

What does it cost to hire a coach for 6 people?

That depends on your trip: how far and how long, on which day and in which month. For 6 people we recommend a people carrier. Fill in your route and date, and within a minute you see what coach companies charge for your trip.
