Example trips
What does coach hire cost? 6 example trips
Calculated with our standard rate, for a coach company based at the departure point. Every amount includes the driver, VAT and parking. If the coach has to pay tolls or the driver stays away overnight, that is included too. Admission tickets, food and the group's hotel are not. On a trip with two amounts, the lower one is a Tuesday and the higher one a Saturday. The ski weekend leaves on a Friday and has one amount. On the trips of more than one day the coach stays parked at the destination and does no extra local trips there. The button next to a trip shows what coach companies charge for your own date and times.

Calculate your trip
Your price depends on your date, route and group. The coach companies give their own price. Your own request shows their prices side by side. They can be lower or higher than these examples. That comes from their own rates, how far their coach has to travel to reach you, and your exact date and times.
What the price depends on
What does the price of coach hire depend on?
The price depends mainly on four things: the distance, the size of your group, the date, and waiting time or an overnight stay. Tolls, parking and surcharges count too. How that works is explained further down, under "How the price is made up".
Distance
The further your destination, the longer the coach is on the road and the more kilometres it drives. The drive from the coach company to your pick-up point counts too.
Group size
Your group decides how big the coach is, and a bigger coach costs more per hour.
Date
A weekend, public holiday or high season costs more than a quiet weekday.
Waiting time or overnight stay
Does the coach have to wait along the way, or does it stay overnight? That counts too.
How to make your coach trip cheaper
- Travel on a weekday. On Saturdays our standard rate adds 7%, on Sundays and public holidays 10.5%.
- Pick a quiet month. Our standard rate by month, against an ordinary month: January and February 10% cheaper, March and November 5% cheaper, May and September 5% more expensive, June 10% more expensive, July and August 15% more expensive; the other months like an ordinary month.
- Take the smallest coach your group fits in. In our standard rate a smaller coach has a lower hourly rate. Work out which coach fits.
- Compare. Coach companies with their own rates are sometimes lower and sometimes higher than our standard. That is why you see them side by side.
- Start from your budget. Know what the coach may cost, but not yet where to go? See which day trips fit.
These are the surcharges of our standard rate. A coach company with its own rates may use different ones.
What does a coach cost for one day?
There is no fixed day rate. A day adds up: the hours the driver works, the kilometres, and the time the coach waits for you. A short day close to home costs much less than a day to the Ardennes.
If the coach waits longer than 3 hours, our standard rate charges the hours after that at half the waiting rate. See the example trips at the top.
Coach types
Which type of coach fits which budget?
An indication of the relative price range. The number of people is a guideline: how many seats a coach has differs per vehicle, and where two types overlap, either can do. Want to know what your own trip costs? Fill in your route, your date and your group at the top.
How the price is made up
- The coach company's own rate, or our standard rate if the company hasn't entered its own rate yet
- Driving time and kilometres on your route, plus waiting time at the destination
- Travelling to you from the company's base
- Any surcharges for weekends, nights, public holidays or high season
- The driver's accommodation on a trip of more than one day, and a second driver when the driving and rest time rules require one
- Tolls, vignettes and parking where they apply
- VAT is already included in the amount shown; it is not added again
Once you request the trip, the coach company confirms the final amount itself. That amount can differ, for example because of a different route or extra waiting time; each amount shows where it comes from.
Why is comparing worth it?
For the same trip, the price can differ a lot between coach companies, depending on the type of coach, its size, the company's rate and how far it has to travel to reach you. You see those amounts side by side on BusOffer.com. Don't just look at the total: look at the coach itself too (how many seats, which facilities) and at what is listed separately in the breakdown, such as tolls, parking and the driver's accommodation.
