What the price depends on
What does the price of coach hire depend on?
Four factors together make up most of the price.
Distance
The further between the pick-up point and the destination, the higher the driving and mileage costs.
Group size
Decides which type of coach you need, and therefore the hourly rate used.
Date
A weekend, public holiday or high season costs more than a quiet weekday.
Waiting time or overnight stay
Does the coach have to wait along the way, or does it stay overnight? That counts too.
How to make your coach trip cheaper
- Travel on a weekday. On Saturdays our standard rate adds 7%, on Sundays and public holidays 10.5%.
- Pick a quiet month. In January and February the price is 10% lower than in an ordinary month, in July and August 15% higher.
- Take the smallest coach your group fits in. A smaller coach has a lower hourly and per-kilometre rate. Work out which coach fits.
- Compare. Coach companies with their own rates are sometimes lower and sometimes higher than our standard. That is why you see them side by side.
- Start from your budget. Know what the coach may cost, but not yet where to go? See which day trips fit.
What does a coach cost for one day?
There is no fixed day rate. A day adds up: the hours the driver works, the kilometres, and the time the coach waits for you. A short day close to home costs much less than a day to the Ardennes.
If the coach waits longer than three hours, our standard rate charges the hours after that at half the waiting rate. See the example trips at the top.
These are the surcharges of our standard rate. A coach company with its own rates may use different ones.
Coach types
Which type of coach fits which budget?
An indication of the relative price range. For an actual amount for your own route and date, enter your details above.
How that price is made up
- The coach company's own fixed costs and hourly rate, or our standard rate as long as it hasn't entered them yet
- Driving time and kilometres on your route, plus waiting time at the destination
- Travelling to you from the company's base
- Any surcharges for weekends, nights, public holidays or high season
- Tolls, vignettes and parking where they apply
- VAT is already included in the amount shown; it is not added again
The coach company then confirms the final amount itself. It can differ, for example because of a different route or extra waiting time; each offer shows what the estimate is based on.
Why is comparing worth it?
For the same trip, the price can differ a lot between coach companies, depending on the type of coach, its size, the company's rate and how far it has to travel to reach you. You see those differences side by side here, with a breakdown for each price estimate, so you can see for yourself where the difference comes from.
